YOUNGSTOWN — Mahoning County Public Health will provide free COVID-19 at-home test kits from 1 to 3 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Junior Fair Event Center at the Canfield Fairgrounds, 7265 Columbiana-Canfield Road.

Those receiving a kit should enter through Gate 9 on state Route 46. There's a limitation of four kits per vehicle, while supplies last.

The BinaxNow COVID-19 rapid test kits are available through a partnership between Mahoning County Public Health and the Ohio Department of Health.

Mahoning County Public Health recommends that residents get tested before attending any gathering, especially if they have symptoms of COVID-19 or other respiratory illnesses, or if they have had close contact with someone who has COVID-19.

"In addition to vaccination, testing before you gather adds another layer of protection and comfort, especially for those who are at greater risk of serious illness and those too young to get vaccinated," Health Commissioner Ryan Tekac said in a news release.
